Zebulon Vance Alford, Jr.

On May 29, 2023, Zebulon Vance Alford Jr. beloved husband, father, and friend passed away at the age of 64.

His memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, June 2nd at Emerald Isle Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Vance was born on October 2, 1958, to the late Zeb and Irene Alford. He was born in Tarboro, North Carolina and graduated from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. He loved the beach where he met his wife, Jennifer Lee Alford, and later retired. They married in 1990 and lived in Raleigh, NC where they raised their two children, Zeb (fiancé Katie Sayles) of Wendell, NC, and Martha Vann of Washington, DC, and their kitty, Beaufort of Emerald Isle.

Vance was outgoing, kind, and always a gentleman. He could talk to any and everyone and often did. His love and pride for Zeb and Martha Vann were at the top of his list of favorite topics to discuss. He loved going to movies at the theater, no matter what the movie.

In retirement, Vance enjoyed working at Star Hill Golf Course and singing in the choir at Emerald Isle Baptist Church. He also enjoyed Wednesdays with Freddie, attending his men’s weekly Bible study and visiting with his best friend, Morgan on the New Bern waterfront.
