Emerald Isle

Richard Lackman, 70, of Emerald Isle, passed away on Sunday, May 1, 2022, at his home.

Richard was born on July 14, 1951, to the late Lois and Jordan Lackman. He was born in New Haven, Connecticut and grew up in Framingham, Massachusetts. After graduating from George Washington University in Washington, DC, he pursued a career in education as a high school history teacher where he really enjoyed shaping young minds. As a member of the Morehead City Country Club, you could always find Richard at the golf course where he spent the majority of his time. If he wasn’t golfing, he was strolling the beaches of Emerald Isle protecting the sea turtles and their nests.

Richard never gave up an opportunity to travel with his wife. They enjoyed their trips to Aruba and would always sneak in a trip to Fenway Park to attend a Boston Red Sox game. As a huge Bruce Springsteen Fan, Richard and his wife were able to fulfill his dream of going to New York and seeing him perform on Broadway.

He is survived by his loving wife, Wanda Setliff of the home; son, Bradford Lackman of Las Vegas, NV; brother, Robert Lackman of Wilmington, NC; sister, Carol Lackman Smith of Mt. Airy, MD; and grandson, Cameron Lackman.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Dennis Lackman.
