Norm was born July 11, 1949 in South Weymouth, MA to Gloria Howe Libby and Norman W. Libby, Sr.  He graduated from Clearwater High School, Clearwater, Florida Class of 1968 and went on to graduate from Southern Illinois University. After an enlistment in the United States Coast Guard, Norm went onto a career with the United States Marine Corps.  He served as an F-4 pilot and retired after 28 years of service.  After retirement from the USMC Norm worked as a Systems Analyst for the United States Navy at Fleet Readiness Center East, Cherry Point North Carolina.  He married Mary Katherine “Kathy” Wallace in 1971 and they were the parents of a daughter, Jenifer.

Early in life, as he would watch airplanes fly over his grandparents’ house to their landing destination at St. Petersburg/Clearwater airport Norm fell in love with flying.  He was very blessed to have been able to achieve his life goal as a pilot and flight instructor.  He piloted his last earthly aircraft on July 11, 2019, his 70th birthday.  However, he is now in Heaven and no doubt spending his time flying.  He is truly soaring with the Angels.

As an active member of Cherry Point Baptist Church Norm faithfully served.  He was part of the Grounds Committee and could always be counted on to help keep the church grounds and additional properties beautiful.  He also served in the Loaves and Fishes ministry.

After giving his life to Christ in July 1969 at First Baptist Church, Largo, FL Norm could always be counted on to share his faith with everyone he met.  His life of integrity, honor, service, faithfulness, and commitment were a testimony to his love for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Norm is preceded in death by his mother, Gloria Irene Dunn; his father, Norman Westgate Libby, Sr.; his maternal grandparents, Daniel Weston Howe and Gladys Irene Hines Howe; his wife, Mary Katherine Wallace Libby; and his half-sister, Debra Libby Joyce.

Norm is survived by his daughter, Jenifer Libby Itenson (Gary) of Wake Forest, NC; two grandsons, Christopher Alexander Itenson and William Warren Itenson of Wake Forest, NC; half-brother, Thomas Dunn of Clearwater, FL; aunt, Candace Howe Vandenberg (Wayne) of Trenton, FL; cousins, Karen Vandenberg, Kimberly Warner, Kelly Vandenberg and Katherine Hullen; niece, Kyoko Ura of Clearwater, FL; nephew, Joseph Dunn of Clearwater, FL; and lifelong friend, Sheril Cheatham Keeler, Madison, AL.

As Norm has graciously dealt with the debilitating illness of Lewy Body he has been blessed to have a team of wonderful caregivers.  They have faithfully and lovingly helped Sheril and Norm navigate life for the past two years.  Thank you, Michael, Vikki, Rochelle, Boyer, Andrea, Adauku, and Maria.  Your presence, love and support filled Norm’s life with peace and joy.

Norm’s family wishes to request that in lieu of flowers donations be given to his favorite mission ministry, The Bridge (Loaves and Fishes), http://www.cherrypointbaptist.com/donate.html or St. Jude’s Children Hospital, https://www.stjude.org/donate/donate-to-st-jude.html?sc_icid=wtg-mm-btn-donate-now
