Mildred Katherine “Mickey” Garner, 85, of Cary, and formerly of Morehead City, passed away Wednesday, November 11, 2020, at Wake Med Cary Hospital in Cary, NC.

A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, November 15, 2020, at Gethsemane Memorial Park, officiated by Rev. Dennis Goodwin. Friends are welcome to attend the service. However, in order to provide social distancing, we ask friends to remain in their cars, the service will be broadcasted through a sound system. For those unable to attend, the family invites you to view the webcasting of the service through Mickey’s obituary page on Munden Funeral Home’s website. Friends are also encouraged to leave words of comfort to the family through the website.

Mickey was born on October 7, 1935, in Lilesville, NC, to the late James Franklin Clark and Annie Elizabeth Clark. In time, she made her way to the Crystal Coast where she faithfully attended First Christian Church in Morehead City.

She is survived by her sons, Rick Garner and wife Linda of Cary, NC, Eddie Garner and wife Donna of Beaufort, NC, John Garner and wife Mona of Warminster, PA and James Garner and wife Hazelle of Hope Mills, NC; brother, Danny Avery and wife Donna of Zebulon, NC; 9 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Richard Levin Garner; and daughter, Julia Elizabeth Garner Gaylon.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Saturday, November 14, 2020, at Munden Funeral Home. In keeping with the CDC guidelines pertaining to the Coronavirus, those who are ill or at-risk (elderly, immune-compromised) are encouraged to stay home. Additionally, there will be a limit to the number of people in the building at one time, as well, those who attend will be asked to bring and wear a protective mask. Upon entering, guests will be asked health questions and their temperatures will be taken. Help us honor the Garner family while practicing safe measures.
