Harold "Bud" Priestley

Harold "Bud" Priestley, 91, of Emerald Isle, passed away Friday, June 17, 2022.

A memorial service will be conducted Monday, June 27, at 11 a.m., at St. Peter's by-the-Sea Episcopal Church in Swansboro by the Rev. Michelle Bullock. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.

Bud was born August 1, 1930, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to the late Harold and Elizabeth Priestley. Bud served in the Air Force during the Korean War and then returned to attend the University of Pittsburgh College of Engineering. He studied Metallurgical Engineering and graduated as the top student in his class. He was married June 19, 1954 and had a loving relationship with his wife Rosemarie for over 55 years. He worked as an engineer and plant manager for several firms during his career. Bud and Rosemarie jointly owned and operated the Greenville True Value Hardware store for 15 years before retiring to Emerald Isle, North Carolina. He enjoyed reading, baking, and was an expert carpenter. Bud loved his faithful dog Beau,his friend and caretaker Mona Bauer, Jim and Joanne Flexer and living in Lands End where his many friends were beloved. Family was of great importance to both Rosemarie and Bud. He cherished each of his four children, eleven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and participated in as many of their activities as possible.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rosemarie Feil Priestley.

Surviving are daughters, Christie Garner and husband, Griff, of Greenville, NC and Lisa Mills and husband, Lathan, of Florence SC; sons, David Priestley and wife Donna, of Plano, TX, and Hal Priestley of Denver, NC; 11 grandchildren, Brad Garner and wife Emily, Amie Miles and husband Jeremy, Ashley Garner and husband Bert, Gray Garner and wife Kelsey, Corey Mills and wife Kalee, Meredith and Payton Mills, Alexandra, Logan, Michael and David Priestley; and 10 great grandchildren.
