Evelyn McCaffity

Evelyn McCaffity, 90, of Havelock, passed away on Wednesday, September 14, 2022, at her home surrounded by her family.

Her graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, September 18th at Forest Oaks Memorial Gardens, officiated by Rev. John Thompson Jr. The family will receive friends an hour prior at Munden Funeral Home in Havelock.

Evelyn was born in Aurora, North Carolina, on February 24, 1932, to the late Dewey and Nita Carawan. It was in Aurora that Evelyn met the love of her life at a local dance. Their romance blossomed and she married Henry Lewis McCaffity at the young age of 16. Evelyn thrived in her role as a wife and mother, creating a happy home where she was known for her amazing culinary skills and cooking delicious meals for her family. Known to always have a book in hand, she loved the peacefulness and adventure of a good read. More than anything, Evelyn's love for her children and family was exceptional.

She is survived by her sons, Lewis McCaffity (Candy) of Blairsville, GA and Bobby McCaffity (Xiaolin) of Frisco, TX; daughter-in-law, Lisa McCaffity of Newport; sisters, Gladys Bunn of Bayboro and Edna Foy of New Bern; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry McCaffity and son, Jimmy McCaffity.
