Erma Lawrence

Erma Lawrence, 95, of Otway, North Carolina, passed away on Monday, March 20, 2023, at Carteret Health Care.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, March 23rd at the Piner Gillikin Cemetery in Otway.

Erma was born on February 6, 1928, in Otway, North Carolina, to the late Theodore and Rosetta Styron. She was a charter member of Otway Free Will Baptist Church beginning in 1954 when she along with other believers started the church in her home. Erma loved to play the piano, expressing herself thru her music, and blessing the congregation with her talent.

Erma enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her sisters whom she loved dearly. She loved working outdoors and was always happy to have her yard in perfect order. She spent many happy hours knitting which was both relaxing and rewarding.

She is survived by her granddaughters, Bridget Salter and Kimberly Harvey; grandson, Dwain Lawrence; niece, Catherine Taylor and husband Julian Taylor Jr. of Otway; and numerous loving nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren, great nieces and nephews, great-great-grandchildren, and great-great nieces and nephews; and great-great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Beth Rose Warren; sisters, Della Marie Lawrence and Joyce Styron; and niece, June Martin.
