David Gaskins

David Lee Gaskins, 58, passed away on Thursday, February 11, 2021, at UNC Lenoir Health Care in Kinston.

A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m., Friday, February 19, 2021, at The Sanctuary in New Bern.

David was born on June 5, 1962, to the late Richard and Frances Gaskins. He was born in Morehead City but was raised and grew up in New Bern. David enjoyed his work at Arrant Lumber Company in New Bern where he specialized as a saw filer. Antique cars were always a highlight for David, he enjoyed participating in local shows where he also won awards. David will be remembered as a humble man of God who loved his family.

He is survived by his wife, Rita Mae Gaskins; daughters, Jessica Gathright and Michelle Gaskins, both of New Bern; son of his heart, Taylor Lee Hill of New Bern; brother, Robert Gaskins and wife Pam of New Bern; and grandchildren, Alyssa Strickland, Jody Wilson, Felisha Wilson, Jalyssa Wilson, Jocelynn Gardner, and Brooklynn Kinlaw, all of New Bern.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Frances Ann Gaskins Miller, and brother, Richard Gaskins Jr.
