Charles Willie James, 83, of Newport, passed away Monday, May 25­, 2020, at Carolina East Medical Center.

A memorial service will be set at a later date at the Farmington Heights Church of God in Wilson, NC.

He is survived by his wife, Paul Dean-James of the home; daughters, Linda Barnes of Lucama, NC, Kathy Crabtree of Wilson, NC, Morgan Tilley of Hurdle Mills, NC, Cameron Bell of Hurdle Mills, NC; sons, Charles Phillip James of Wilson, Anthony Dean of Chapel Hill, NC and Jeffrey Dean of Burlington, NC; sisters, Jean Walston of Nashville, NC and Christina Barnes of Wilson, NC; 2 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Dessie James.
