Obituary

Arthur G. Brown, 71, of Havelock, NC, passed away on January 16, 2021, in his home surrounded by his wife and children.

Mr. Brown was born in Pontiac, IL on March 19, 1949, To Gilbert and Flora (Potter) Brown.  Art graduated from Chenoa High School in 1967.  After serving in Vietnam, Art completed his Certification in Mortuary Science in Dallas, Tx.

Mr. Brown resided in Watseka, IL where he raised his children.  Art was a funeral director for several years in that community, and he was also active in the Jaycees, Kiwanis, and served on the County Board.  In 2001, Art married Angela Wyche and relocated to Woodstock, GA.  A few years later, Mr. Brown and his wife moved to Havelock, NC.

Mr. Brown is survived by his wife Angela (McDuffy) Wyche of Havelock, NC; daughter Latitia (Brown) Ortiz and husband Fernando of Albuquerque, NM; son, Christopher Brown and wife Amanda of Farmington, IA; and stepson Joshua Wyche and wife Kelly of Evans, GA.  The apples of Art’s eye were his five grandsons: Seeley (age 7), Judson (age 5) and Ritter (age 1) of Farmington, IA; and Wiley (age 7) and Barrett (age 4) of Evans, GA.  Art is also survived by his sister Janet (Brown) Van Iten of Long Boat Key, FL; brother Richard Brown of Woodstock, GA; and sister-in-law Nancy Brown of Bloomington, IL.  Art was preceded in death by his parents, Gib and Flo (Chenoa, IL), and brother Jim (Chenoa, IL). 

Art was a vibrant and loving personality, and his family and friends will always miss him.  He was a lover of music, wildlife and people.

Due to COVID-19, there will be no funeral at this time.  There will be a celebration of Mr. Brown’s life at a later date.
