Donald “Don” Ray Walston, Sr., 90, of Cedar Point, went to be with his Lord, Thursday, July 12­, 2018.

His funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 14, 2018, at Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Bogue, officiated by Rev. Tim Nichols. Interment, with military honors and Masonic Rites,  will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Park.

Don was known by many in our community as the owner of the Walston Hardware Store in Cedar Point. He honorably served in the United States Army and was a member of the Seaside Masonic Lodge #429 in Swansboro. He was a  member of the Core Sound Water Fowl Museum and was a member of the Core Sound Decoy Carvers Guild. Donald was formerly on the Board of Directors at Carteret Health Care as well as the Planning Board for the Town of Cedar Point.

Among his many accomplishments, he retired from the Naval Depot at Camp Lejeune. He worked for the railroad in Wilson County. He also built the Bear Lodge Motel in Cedar Point and was instrumental in starting Western Park Ball Field.

He is survived by his wife, Patsy Sadler Walston of the home; daughter, Marti Johnson and husband, Leonard, of Cape Carteret;  sons, William Michael Walston and wife, Martha, of Bogue, Randy Feagle and wife, Brenda, of Beaufort; grandchildren, Daniel, Lian, Jessica, Lindsey; and great-grandchildren, Holden, Dayne, Dylann, Salina, Landon, Kaleb, Samuel and Dallas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Ellen Walston; first wife, Verta Mae Walston; son, Donald Ray Walston, Jr.; sister, Ellen Brooks; and brother, Amos Walston.
