Thomas  Wayne Ballou, 75, of Morehead City, died Monday, February 28, 2011 at Carteret General Hospital.

Services will be held 11:00 am Thursday at Open Door Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Linebarger officiating.

Mr. Ballou was a member of the Masonic Order, Ocean Lodge #405 and a Shriner. He owned and operated Sonny's Galley, Tommy's Pancake House, the Old Anchor Inn, Spooners Creek Restuarant, and Ballou Steakhouse.

He is survived by his three sons, William David Ballou, and  finac√®, Vanessa Daugherty of Morehead City, Michael Craig Ballou of Houston, TX, and Barry Ballou and wife, Dorothy of Morhead City; sister, Sara Webb of Morehead City; brother, Holden Ballou of Beaufort; two grandchildren, Kristi and Kasey Ballou; loving companion, Joyce Salter of Morehead City; the mother of his children, Nancy Ballou Huckemeyer; and his best friend, "Spikey".

He was preceded in death by his son,Thomas Wayne Ballou, Jr.

The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 pm Wednesday at Munden Funeral Home.

I am so sorry to read about Tommy's passing. I worked for him about 40 years ago and I can honestly say we loved working at the pancake house. He was one of the best bosses I have had in my life. May God be with your family in your greatest time of need. You are in my prayers.

So sorry about Tommy. I grew up accross the street from him. He was always so special and kind to everyone. My heart goes out to all of you. My prayers are with you all.
