Mrs. Virginia Bunch Melton, 90, of Havelock, died Saturday, August 18, 2012 at the Cherry Point Bay Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Havelock.

A graveside service will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 23, 2012 in Gethsemane Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Donald Hadley officiating.

Mrs. Melton had worked of the A&P grocery store in Havelock for 29 years and was a member of First Baptist Church in Havelock.

Survivors include two children, Barbara Smith, of Havelock, and James T. Melton and wife, Joanne U. Melton, of Corpus Christi, TX; five grandchildren, Edward Smith, Steven Smith, Sharon Smith, Michael C. Melton, and Samantha M. Kleckler; four great grandchildren, Christopher, Britney, Mark and Megan; and her sister, Hazel Cook, of Scotland Neck.  

She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Edward C. Melton, her parents, Raymond and Helen Bunch, and two sisters, Shirley Jenkins and Anne Allsbrook.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.

grandma i miss you!!!!! you are the only one who ever took the time to ask about my true are my angel and i love and miss you dearly!!!!!i cant beleive i wont get anymore cards or all seems so much like a dream......i love you grandma....dont ever forget that..i hope you are looking down on me and watching over me...we both know i need some looking after....i remember snapping butterbeans and pole beans on the front room with those big tupaware bowls.....i wish i had some of your collards with the angels grandma...because now you are with your own were and alwayswill be my sweet angel.....xoxooxooxoxoo love you grandma..
