Richard "Dick" Edward Dorer, 76, of Newport, died Wednesday August 15, 2012 at his home.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 am Saturday at Munden Funeral Chapel with his friend John Kurek officiating.
Dick served in the USAF, he retired form Lauren's Glass in Henderson, and following his retirement was employed with the town of Atlantic Beach, prior to his disability. He was a longtime Moose Member and past governor fo Newport Moose Lodge.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years Linda Dorer of the home: three children Beatrice Little and husband Cliff of New Bern, Darla Brooks and husband Dave of Pennsylvania, and Ricky Dorer and wife Priscilla of Roanoke Rapids: five grandchildren: and one great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents Donald and Marie Dorer, a son Donald Dorer, and a granddaughter Shauna Norcross.
Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 pm Friday at Munden Funeral Home.

Reading the Henderson Dispatch on Friday the 17th, I was surprised to see Dick's obituary. To Linda and Ricky, I wish to express my heartfelt sympathy. Please know that you are in my thoughts during this very sad time.

A truly good man - always quick with a smile or something funny that would make you laugh. Ready to help and always a friend to those who knew him. Dick will be missed and our hearts and prayers are with Linda and the family.
